Bert’s barrow barn wedding

Our little Yorkshire wedding band is busy this summer, as always. One of our recent shows was at Bert’s Barn in Hillam (that’s near Leeds if you’re not local…) for Alison and Tom’s big day.

Actually, the day began at Selby Abbey where we were providing some acoustic tunes for the service. This was one of those gigs that we do a few times each summer where we’re providing music at different points throughout the day. It makes for a long shift, but they’re always great fun! If you’re thinking about how you might fit music into your big day, just get in touch and we can have a chat.

Come the evening the whole band was set up to play in the venue’s barn. We love a barn wedding! We had an all ages crowd so we picked a set that covered the decades and had something for everyone. We even made a few quick changes to give our happy couple some call backs to the music from their ceremony earlier in the day.

One particular characteristic of this barn was the sound limiter in place to manage volume levels inside and outside of the venue. These aren’t uncommon in wedding venues, and as an experienced wedding band we’re used to dealing with them. We soundchecked thoroughly and kept an eye on levels all night to ensure the maximum party with the minimum disruption!

As always, the end of the night seemed to come too soon. Alison, Tom and their guests were still in fine voice as the party started to wind down, and we were able to clock off after a 14 hour shift!
