Rolling on the river

One of the band’s highlights this summer was a York river cruise party for David’s big birthday. We got to spend the evening entertaining David and his guests whilst taking in the scenery of the river Ouse.

We’ve had some interesting load ins over the years, usually involving staircases of various widths and lengths, but this was the first time we’ve approached a venue by gangplank! Things were tight, but we soon had everything ship-shape and ready to go.

There was a diverse crowd to entertain, and we also had to make sure we played the birthday boy’s favourites too! Thankfully this is where our experience and extensive set list comes into play. We use both of these to ensure we’re responding to the audience and hitting all the right notes to keep them entertained – pun intended….

We have to make special mention of the amazing location. Our little band plays a lot of parties around York and further afield, but we can’t think of anywhere that the scenery changed so much as on the river. It was a beautiful evening to drift by the historic sights of the city centre and then out into greener environments of the outskirts!

It was a fantastic night for us earning our sea legs as and we hope to get back out on the water very soon. In the meantime, if you’re looking for a band for your special event, on dry land or otherwise, then just get in touch.
