Our final gig of 2018 – and our first of 2019 – was at The Grand Hotel and Spa in York. We were performing for their New Year’s Eve celebrations. This is one of our favourite venues in York. We’re always made to feel really welcome by the team at the venue, and that always helps us to put on an extra special show.
The Grand the heart of York in the historic former headquarters of the North Eastern Railway Company. It’s also the only 5 star hotel and spa in Yorkshire!
We were a bit nervous as we went on – the guests had already had a champagne reception and a four course meal so we weren’t sure if they were going to move! At this stage our experience of playing this sort of event paid dividends. We started our set off with a handful of gentler numbers to ease the guests into things, rather than coming out all guns blazing! We brought the tempo up after about 15 minutes and we were rewarded with a full dance floor and a lot of happy guests!
We had the briefest of pauses at midnight to see in the new year and raise a glass, then we were back into keeping the party going. Feedback from the guests at the end of the night was really positive – this was an amazing way to end our year. We’re really looking forward to what 2019 brings!
