Yorkshire coast wedding, Robin Hoods Bay

Robin Hoods Bay Wedding

Donna and Graham celebrated their wedding at The Victoria Hotel in Robin Hoods Bay on the stunning North Yorkshire coast, and we were lucky enough to be asked to play for them.

For those that don’t know, Robin Hoods Bay is a few miles outside of Whitby with some amazing cliff-top views of the North Sea and surrounding coastline. It’s an area we’re quite familiar with having played around there several times in the last year. It’s also close to where our bass player Paddy grew up!

The Victoria Hotel is perfectly situated on top of the cliffs looking out to see and down on to the rest of Robin Hoods Bay. We were setting up in the same room as the meal took place, so there was some quick stage management as the venue staff moved the guests to another part of the hotel and rearranged things. Then it was time for us to go to work.

Our couple’s first dance was ‘My Love’ by Jess Glynne; we’d worked up a stripped down version that really worked well for the venue and the crowd. We even managed to grab a video of Paul and Sarah performing it.

It was an all ages crowd so we kicked off with a few 60’s favourites and some pop tunes. It’s always great to get everyone on the dance floor, and not just the hardy party types! Donna and Graham’s guests were really in the mood to dance so we swapped a few songs on the fly and kept up the pace. As the night went on we slipped up a gear and started rocking out, and the crowd kept up with us. We finished our third set and swapped over to our ‘iPod DJ’ to see out the rest of the night.

The Victoria is a fantastic little venue in an amazing location. We can’t wait to come back!
