Our summer of wedding gigs continued last night with a gig at Harewood House in Leeds for Helen and Joe. Most recently, the venue held the ceremonial start of the 2014 Tour De France, and last night it was celebrating the start of married life for our happy couple!
The reception itself took place around a beautiful courtyard, and the guests were really making the most of it in the good weather. However, it was soon time for the first dance and everybody came inside to see Helen and Joe take to the dance floor.
Helen and Joe had chosen ‘Crazy Love’ by Van Morrison and it was the perfect way to start the evening. Pretty soon, they were joined on the dance floor by family and friends.
It was clear straight away that the crowd were up for a good time, so the carefully prepared set list went out of the window and we hit them with all the party classics. This is an important part of our job – responding to what the crowd wants – some bands, particularly those less experienced, will just play the same set every night regardless; we have the experience and the repertoire to spot what the audience wants and make sure we deliver!
The night seemed to end all too soon – and we’re pretty sure some of the guests could have kept going until morning! But it was time for us to go, although an unexpected road closure on the A1 made sure our night lasted just that little bit longer…
