Summer Loving – a great wedding at The Hospitium in York

We recently helped Rachel and Laura celebrate their wedding at the fabulous Hospitium in York. This is one of our favourite York wedding venues. It’s located in the heart of the city, but it sits inside the Museum Gardens overlooking the river to one side and the tranquility of the Gardens at night on the other.

From a wedding band’s perspective, another great feature is we’re able to load in and set up in the hall whilst the wedding guest are upstairs enjoying their meal and the speeches. We can get ready without disturbing anyone, or having to hang around if things are over running. This is exactly what we did for Rachel and Laura.Once we were set up our ‘iPod DJ’ kicked in, so as soon as the happy couple and their guests moved downstairs the night was underway. Being able to customise the playlists ensured that Rachel and Laura had the music they wanted to hear all night.

We kicked off our set with ‘I saw her standing there’ by The Beatles and the dance floor was full from the first beat, and it stayed that way all night despite the heat! Our jackets were off after the first few numbers, and to give the dancers some respite we threw a few slower numbers like ‘Moondance’ and ‘Thinking out loud’ into the first set.

We turned up the heat again in the second half with some rockers and party anthems. The crowd were amazing and in fine voice. As always, we had a blast at The Hospitium. It was great to share Rachel and Laura’s day; and great to play a home town gig with just a ten minute journey at the end of the night!
