Bank holiday weekends are always a busy time for weddings, and last weekend was no exception. We got to play for two lovely couples at two of our favourite Yorkshire venues.
On Friday we played for Chris and Kath at the beautiful Middleton Lodge. We’ve played at Middleton before, but this was the first time we’ve been inside the house rather than performing in a marquee in the garden. The lodge is a beautiful Georgian country house and makes a really elegant backdrop for a wedding.
We set up underneath a gorgeous spiral staircase – it was a bit of a squeeze, but we managed it – and played a set that covered the decades. It was a great start to the weekend.
Saturday found us on home turf in York, playing for Pete and Babs at the Merchant Taylor’s Hall. The entertainment got off to an earlier than usual start as we’d been asked to perform an acoustic set in addition to our usual performance, so Paul and Sarah started the party with as chilled out duo set.
The main event came around soon enough and it was a real party from the moment we started. The crowd were really up for a good time and in fine voice. Not only that, we also got to witness some fine dancing and hip-hop moves!
