So, on what is probably the most romantic night of the year, we found ourselves in York playing a lovely intimate wedding. We were at Maramadukes Hotel, a small but perfectly formed town house hotel tucked down a leafy street just a few minutes from York city-centre.
In keeping with Maramadukes low-key and intimate style, the reception was for fewer than 30 guests, with a large proportion of them being children. We’ve said it before, but a lot of bands would just turn up and do the same turn for 30 as they would for 300, at the same volume, without even considering the audience or the venue. We treat every client as unique and try to tailor our approach to suit them and their wedding venue.
We delivered a set that really spanned the decades, covering everything from The Beatles to Bruno Mars. We also made sure we kept the volume to a level that kept the youngest and oldest members of the crowd on the dance floor. It was a real pleasure to play such great family wedding, and we met some lovely people.
We also found a new venue. Every year we look back and say now we’ve played every venue in York, and every year someone finds a new one for us to play! Marmadukes is a wonderful venue and somewhere we really hope to go back to. If you’re looking for somewhere to hold an intimate family wedding, you should really check them out.
Playing so close to home, we were back by 12:30am – and ready to celebrate 15th February with our other halves!
