Saturday saw us heading south on the A1 for a change to play for Mike and Laura at their wedding reception. The venue was Owston Park Lodge, a country pub in the village of Owston just outside of Doncaster. This was our last wedding of the year before the Christmas party season started, so we were determined to go out on a high note!
Mike and Laura had made a great choice for their first dance, they’d decided on ‘there is a light that never goes out’ by The Smiths, and by the time we’d got to the last chorus it looked like the whole room had decided to join the happy couple on the dance floor.
The whole night was a real family affair, so we pulled out songs for all ages. For the last wedding gig of a very busy year, we finished the night with smiles all round. The only unhappiness came on the drive home with multiple road closures and diversions adding another hour to the journey!
