We made a return visit to one of our favourite venues this weekend, Hornington Manor in Bolton Percy near Tadcaster. It was an unseasonably warm night and it felt like a summer wedding with guests moving indoors and outdoors throughout the night. The amazing crowd who had come to celebrate Rosie and David’s Wedding pushed the temperature even higher once the party got underway!
We’d agreed to arrive at the venue early to ensure we were set up before guests arrived. In venues where everything happens in one big room, such as barn conversions and marquees, this is often a good idea as it minimises any disruption to the guests. By the time the wedding party arrived we were all set and ready to go.
Our first number was a request from the happy couple – “You Make My Dreams Come True” by Hall and Oates – then it was straight in to the party set with something from every decade from the 50s right up until today.
The talented Michael Mulholland had been taking care of live music all afternoon and he was DJ for the night so he kept everyone on their feet after our last set ended.
Did we mention that this is one of our favourite venues? It’s one of the best looking venues we’ve come across in an amazing countryside setting, and the team are simply the best people we’ve dealt with. It’s always a pleasure to play here.
