The party band has been busy in and around York over the last few weeks performing at all sorts of occasions and venues. Two of our favourites were for a couple of big birthday celebrations.
First up was a return to The Grand in central York for Rhona’s celebrations. This was a high class affair – The Grand is York’s only five star hotel – but it’s a venue we are familiar with so we knew the score.
It was an adult crowd, but with a range of ages, so we tailored our setlist to meet that brief – including a request for the birthday girl.
We had spent a lot of time speaking to Rhona prior to the event, so there was a very clear plan and precise timings to evening. We recognise that each event is special to our clients and we’re happy to work with them when they ask to ensure they get the night they want.
By contrast, Kirsten’s big party was a much more informal affair. This was a very family orientated party and most of the guests arrived with young children, so we were mindful to keep the music upbeat and watch the volume to save little ears!
For this party we were at Bishopthorpe Sports and Social club which is a great local venue, with a fantastic room for events of this kind. We had a blast performing on the stage and loved having plenty of room to move. We were also adept at kicking balloons back into the audience by the end of the night…
